GRANTS

The American German Shepherd Rescue Association has been very supportive of GSRCNY's efforts since 2007. We thank them profusely! The American German Shepherd Rescue Association, Inc. was developed as a fundraising group to operate programs which protect the German Shepherd Dog from suffering due to cruelty, homelessness, ignorance, neglect and misuse.

We wish to thank the PETCO Foundation for its 2008, 2009, and 2010 grants to GSRCNY. This Foundation supports community organizations and efforts that enhance the lives of companion animals while strengthening the bond between people and pets. They help animal welfare organizations find loving homes for orphaned pets, as well as fund spay and neuter programs, animal assisted therapy and humane education. PETCO has provided GSRCNY with not only monetary assistance, but dog food and a venue for meet and greets. We thank PETCO for their ongoing support of our efforts! Check out a recent news article done after GSRCNY's visit to PetCo by clicking here!
GSRCNY has received grants from PEDGREE Foundation in both 2008 and 2009. THE PEDIGREE Foundation is a philanthropic organization dedicated to helping dogs in need find loving homes. They provide grants to 501(c)(3) dog shelters and breed rescue organizations, and help dog lovers adopt, volunteer, and make donations. Through no fault of their own, more than four million dogs end up in shelters and breed rescue organizations every year, and nearly half of them never find a place to call home. PEDIGREE's mission is to help those dogs by providing grants to shelters and rescue groups—and by encouraging dog adoption. GSRCNY uses its PEDIGREE grant money to purchase dog food for its orphans. We are very grateful for this assistance!
GSRCNY is grateful to the Bernice Barbour Foundation for their 2009 grant to help us purchase portable kennels for our rescue dogs and their 2010 grant to help us with veterinary care. The Bernice Barbour Foundation was established to fund organizations which provide programs to protect, preserve, and nurture companion animals, large animals, native wildlife, and marine species in the United States. Hands on care, animal health/welfare, and veterinary medical research are priorities.
The Maddie's Fund mission is to "revolutionize the status and well-being of companion animals." This Pet Rescue Foundation is a family foundation that was established in 1999 to help the creation of a no-kill nation. Since its inception, Maddie's Fund has awarded animal welfare organizations and universities $71.6 million to save dogs and cats.
GSRCNY is proud to be affiliated with both Maddie's Fund and the Mayor's Alliance for NYC's Animals. We have been members since 2009. GSRCNY's first priority is saving animals in right here in New York State and these two organizations assist us with that!
The American Kennel Club Companion Animal Recovery donated a new universal microchip reader to GSRCNY in 2010. All GSRCNY dogs are microchipped before placement in new homes.
Last Hope Safe Haven, Inc. has also helped fund the purchase of portable kennels. In addition, they have provided GSRCNY with shelter pull fees and veterinary care in 2007, 2008, 2009, and 2010. Last Hope Safe Haven, Inc. is comprised of a dedicated group of German Shepherd Dog enthusiasts who had grown tired of the number of beloved German Shepherds facing a torturous death in kill facilities throughout the country. GSRCNY thanks Last Hope Safe Haven for its continued support.
The Iroquois German Shepherd Dog Club of Syracuse, Inc. continues to support the efforts of its local rescue group and we are very thankful for that support. Each year the Club "tags" some of their Show proceeds for Rescue. In 2009, the Club was very generous. GSRCNY and the dogs in our care thank you!
