Please Note: German Shepherd Rescue of Central New York, Inc. (GSRCNY) is not a shelter. The dogs in our care are either in foster homes or boarded in a private facility that is not open to the public . Dogs are shown by appointment only to individuals with an approved application. Applications are usually processed within 1-2 weeks of receipt.
Wonderful German Shepherd Dogs lose their homes daily, not merely as a result of divorce, death, marriage, relocation, or allergies, but also due to neglect, abuse, and abandonment. That cute bundle of fur is now "too big," "too much work," "has too much hair," "might soil the new rug . . ."
German Shepherd Rescue of Central New York, Inc. (GSRCNY) is a federal 501(C)(3) non-profit organization that was created to provide a lifeline to these German Shepherd Dogs with stable temperaments facing euthanasia in shelters throughout the region.
These dogs will be medically completed prior to placement with families whose adoption applications have been rigorously evaluated. An adoption fee is required.
GSRCNY is not a shelter. We are always looking for first-rate foster homes. In addition to responsible, safe, and loving foster homes, we always need people to help increase our visibility so we can expand our services to the overwhelming number of dogs in need. Most importantly, we need experienced homes to give these dogs a second chance.
We need your help! Are you interested in adopting a dog? Can you foster one of our dogs that all-important step toward a permanent home?
German Shepherd Dogs are no exception to the rule that purebred dogs also end up in shelters in vast numbers, most ending their lives there. Sadly, we cannot save them all, but we can save some. Together, we can save many more. Please join us today! Each life makes a difference.

"A special thanks to the staff at Lake Country Veterinary Hospital for all they do, and thank you to all of our volunteers and wonderful families who have taken in one of our dogs to love."
